Recently a number of Wes’ friends, colleagues and students gathered to mark and celebrate Wes’ contribution to the disciplines of Ethnomethodology, Sociology and Philosophy by presenting him with a festschrift. As you can see from the picture below, he was both very embarrassed and very pleased.
The festschrift has been published as Ethnographic Studies No 15 (2019) and can be found at

Please join us in thanking Wes for his academic leadership and friendship over what has been a lifetime of distinguished scholarship
Congratulations Wes, a thoroughly deserved tribute.
While I was never a student of yours, and was a colleague at Manchester for only a short time, over the years I’ve learned a huge amount from you (though maybe not enough!)
Very best wishes,
Martyn
